5th Grade Concerts: This special series is presented at Maurice Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City. All fifth grade classrooms within busing distance are invited to attend. In addition to receiving materials for teachers, hundreds of attending schools receive personal visits from Utah Symphony Guild Docents trained by our Education Department to present core concepts and an introduction to orchestral music. Concerts are 45-50 minutes in duration. Canyons, Davis, Granite, Jordan and Salt Lake district classes are assigned concert dates through their District Arts Coordinators' offices. Other schools may sign up through our on-line open enrollment each year. Open enrollment is usually available by late September of each school year.
Utah Symphony Recommends: Utah Symphony musicians offer their instrument-specific recommendations for concerts.
School Concerts: We program a full orchestra and chamber orchestra (45 to 50 musicians) education program each year to allow us to travel great distances and play in schools with smaller auditoriums. Teachers receive materials that help them prepare students for their attendance as well as activity suggestions to help support their teaching of the music core curriculum. Musicians in the Classroom: Symphony musicians or a conductor can meet with band or orchestra students to talk with them, and occasionally rehearse with them. Where the school concert schedule allows, we also offer "Meet and Greet" sessions in between performances, at which secondary band and orchestra students can chat informally with members of the Utah Symphony.

We offer age-appropriate programming to every school in the state on a 3-5 year rotation. Our five artists give their presentation in the school auditorium, or the high school choral classroom.
